MENSEN is a politically and religiously unaffiliated NGO based on democratic values. Our aim is to strive for a realization of menstrual rights, and that menstrual related issues are highlighted and seen as a crucial part of achieving gender equality. We apply an intersectional perspective to our work. We are a multifaceted organization who believe in collaboration and cooperation between different actors to achieve our goals. We use different approaches and methods, and adapt them to the target group. We want to facilitate for the recipient to gain new knowledge and change any negative attitudes towards menstruation.
Period Works
Knowledge is the key to a menstrual aware work life where people participate on equal terms and conditions. Use our material as a tool in order to create a more period friendly workplace!
Universal Period Competence
Every child should know what menstruation is and how the menstrual cycle works in order to feel secure in their own bodies, and this information must be accessible for everyone – regardless of any potential disability. In this project we will use universal design in order to develop educational material for children, as well as adults who work with young people.
The Period Megaphone
Everyone has the right to reproductive education. MENSEN launched the project The Period Megaphone in 2017, which enables children and youths to gain knowledge about menstrual health and reproductive anatomy.
Combating Period Poverty
Period poverty has consequences for individuals and society as a whole and must be counteracted. Living in period poverty means that you do not have access to safe and hygienic period products and can not manage your period in a hygienic way due to poor finances.
